House of Love

Let us build a house of love, you and I

 

With a foundation of honesty

A roof built of faithfulness

And the sturdiness to weather all storms

 

Let us build walls made of forgiveness

Cover them with passion

And paint them with laughter.

 

Let us build a house of love, you and I

Furnish it with kindness and empathy

And fill it with communication and respect.

 

Let us build gardens of contentment, and pathways of friendship

Where we can sit together in the twilight, feeling grateful for what we have created.

With windows so big that light can fill the dark corners

And we can grow and change and flourish with ease.  

 

Let us build a home, you and I

Where we will find understanding and comfort

And we will always feel safe.

 

Where I am yours and you are mine

And together, we abide in the house of love that we built

Just we two.
